I am a Paper Plane

Image
I Am A Paper Plane    by Jerahmeel N. Tayag Jr.            Do you remember playing with a paper plane when you were young?   Soaring high,   soaring low then slowly falling down,   landing gently or roughly on the ground.   The fall depends on the strength of wind and the pull of gravity.   Never have I imagined that I would be like a paper plane.        Growing up,my arms are torn,   I can’t do the things I dearly want to do;   my legs are crippled,   I can’t go places where the brave dare to go,   where I want to actually be in;   my tongue is knotted,   my wind could not speak for me,   not even allowed to utter a word.   I am in a poor,   very poor situation as nerves of my heart are crushed.   I am vowed to follow strictly against my will, against my power.   I felt dumb and numb.   I must fly,   I have ...

Overcoming Sadness

A journal  written  by my student who doesn't like to be identified. Overcoming sadness without my father by my side is more than a challenge to me. Growing up was never an easy task, especially without having a father since day one. It has always been just my mom, my Lola, my brother and I. I know that my mother had placed all her efforts just to fulfill the roles of being a mother and a father to me and to my brother. However, that was never enough to fill in the guidance and life lessons I have missed from a father's perspective, never enough to fulfill the father's love that my heart's wanted. I never saw him ever again since tha day he left us. I wasn't able to get to know him more, I didn't get to find out what kind of food he like or even what kind of sport he can play. I don't remember everything about him. I don't remember the warmth of his arms around me and I was too young to remember having his love. I overcome this challenge by being con...

Don't

DON'T Florence C. Ares Don't look for me  When I no longer there. Don't call me either When I can no longer answer your call.  Don't cry to me When I can no longer wipe your tears Don't give me flowers When I can no longer smell them. Don't tell me you're sorry When I can no longer forgive you. Don't sing me your songs When I can no longer hear your voice. Don't write me letters and poems When I can no longer read them. Don't say you love me When I can no longer feel it.

The Present Is Really A Gift

August 20, 2016 Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Robinsons Magnolia Quezon City Dear Coffee Mate,          They'd say 'forgive and forget", things in the past are called history. These are done and time wore off, it's emotions included. But the essence is there, the substance, the things we've learned, the lessons we took are forever written in our hearts. Yes, we fought, we've had quarrels, bot of us had negative feelings. But we must forgive, for we are not made to fight all the time, we are made to shelter one another in times of hardships. We tend to forget those bad times, but what's important is that we became stronger. History is a brief description both learning and resiliency, as well as test. But more importantly, it produces a whole new person and relationship with a transition of pain and sufferings but ended up great. Worry not my Coffee Mate, what happened in the past, may it be somewhat good or bad, I'm glad it happened, it pulled us toge...

Vergangenheit ist Geschicte, Zukunft ist Geheimnis und Jeder Augenblick ein Geschenk.

a reflection by Deborah Gonzales Grade X-Earth  Before we abruptly close our eyes goodnight everything that we’ve done has ended and won’t ever be copied, deleted nor returned back. I’ve just realized one thing, that in continuously living, one has to terminate but no need to worry for another beginning is waiting. Each day we wake up, each day we do and try accomplishing tasks, each hour we tend to spend in a useless act, each minute we abide by rules around, each second we learn and each millisecond our heart pound, another story will take place. As a lay man said,  “another chapter of the tale is ‘bout to occur”.  After the past,  I believe that present is really meant to happen, by the name it means “gift”, at this moment I may think a bit literally. Happiness, sadness, disappointment, heart breaks,  we may feel some of these now, either negative or positive, as present arrives what it give is the infinite experience that can only happen once....

Past is History, the Future is a Mystery and every Moment a Gift

a reflection by  Sophia May Moscare                                Grade X- Earth              Everything we do creates memories. It just depends upon us to keep it or not. And from our past experiences, we tend to learn and try not to do it again. What we have gone through made us stronger and taught us to become a better version of ourselves. Our past might be hard to forget, but it would always be our choice to live in it or to just go and move on with life. 'Cause life is full of surprises and enjoying it is the best thing to do. Let us not let anyone rob us our own happiness, not even ourselves. Just think of today and choose a life that's worth it. Worry not much about the future, instead enjoy what you have right now, create memories with the people you love, because life is so unpredictable. The future you are thinking about will soon be your present and w...

The Fire of Friendship

Paulo Coelho A man called Ali is in need of money and asks his boss to help him out. His boss sets him a challenge: if he can spend all night on the top of a mountain, he will receive a great reward; if he fails, he will have to work for free. When he left the shop, Ali noticed that an icy wind was blowing. He felt afraid and decided to ask his best friend, Aydi, if he thought he was mad to accept the wager. After considering the matter for a moment, Aydi answered: ‘Don’t worry, I’ll help you. Tomorrow night, when you’re sitting on top of the mountain, look straight ahead. ‘I’ll be on the top of the mountain opposite, where I’ll keep a fire burning all night for you. ‘Look at the fire and think of our friendship; and that will keep you warm. ‘You’ll make it through the night, and afterwards, I’ll ask you for something in return.’ Ali won the wager, got the money, and went to his friend’s house. ‘You said you wanted some sort of payment in return.’ Aydi said, ‘Yes, but it isn’...
