DESIDERATA (Reflection)

This poem shows that there is always a rainbow after the rain if we just look beyond the struggles, chaos and troubles in life.
As I was reading this, it meant to me a lot. It tells an advice how to achieve our goals, how to attain a peaceful life and how live in an optimistic world. For us to enable to achieve peace and happiness, we should accept not only what we are but also for who we are. It is setting ourselves free from worries and stress that the world may cause. Comparing ourselves to others is like stabbing our own heart to cause more pain. We’re very far different from each other, we’re all fairly unique. I may be good in math than you are but I can’t sing the way you can. Why compare anyway? We should just cherish what we have right now.
And as we conquer the obstacles and achieve something, we should not be big-headed but instead we should always keep our feet on the ground. We shall stay humble because victory does not always come us. We also experience defeat and misfortune and failures.
“Be yourself” is the most powerful weapon to fulfill our incompleteness. pretending to be an other person just to be accepted by the group we belong is the hardest thing to do and very unwanted feeling. We make mistakes but it’s not an excuse to hide ourselves. We should show out the best in us. We’re perfectly imperfect but being with our own selves, we gain confidence to try more and strive harder. Also, it’s just a waste of time in comparing yourself to other and it makes our God sad because He created us genuinely different from others. Just fly high and let our wings soar high.
In our difficulties, don’t ever try to give up; we don’t notice we’re already near the goal that we’ve been working for so long. Just do remember that you already dig too far to give up. Don’t lose hope, hold onto lights and exert more efforts.
All of this, without God are worthless, nonsense and a waste. Be with Him every time gives us the most precious life that we could never have in money, jewelries, fame, etc.
To sum it all, avoid things that are distressful. We can be better if we want. If I can do awesome things, you can also do it. We are all God’s creation, it is right to feel the peace, happiness and of course, the love.

The key is to be humble all the time. Return all the favor to the Lord and you will not notice that you are getting contented always. Otherwise, if you still don't appreciate what you have, you must enhance the gift of our Creator. Jessica is right, "keep your dreams up high but keep your feet on the ground." Or should I say "keep reaching the stars." It states that whatever challenges or problem might come to your life, keep holding on. God have a better plan and he have a reason why he gave that task. Life is too short do what ever you want."Be yourself" always because no one can copy who you are , we have our own talents, skills, and intelligence or in short each one of us is special in our creator because he was the one who chose us or the one who gave us a chance to live in this mysterious and wonderful world. So if you don't mind we are very lucky because we are the "CHOSEN ONE".

ReplyDelete"After every storm comes a rainbow. That's why you'll always see me smile when the world is upside down." This is a line from a song and this is my motto in life. Always think positive. Always remember that God will never give us problems that we can't solve. We are extraordinary in our own ways. We can prove ourselves by showing the real us. Don't pretend to be someone you can not. The reflection says it all. Lets be positive and motivated to reach our goals :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to congratulate jessica for making a very good reflective essay. I really like the way how she enumerate all the important parts of the poem. I like the way how she elaborate the things she wants to emphasize and the things she wants us to know. I really appreciate the emotions she wants us/the readers to feel. As I was reading your work, I have felt a lot of emotions. As I read it, I remember all the things I've been through. I realized that we should never give up when we face trials along the way. We should always think positive. God just wants usto learn our lessons, to make us tougher and to trust him that He will never leave us no matter what happen. We should always start from the bottom until we reach the top but then, we should never forget where we started because those are the things that will make us to stay humble. We cannot reach the prize automatically, we should work for it. For us to be able to feel that we are worth it for that prize.
ReplyDeleteThe part that really strikes me the most is "Be Yourself" :) . What are we going to get from pretending. Even though people always judge you, you should show who you truly are because God has created us according to his own will. And God has also given us the free will to manage our own lives by His help. Pretending doesn't make any sense. We are not perfect. Before everybody respects you, respect yourself first and others. Do not do unto others what you dont want them to do to you. Life is a matter of choice. Life is like an icecream, enjoy before it melts. Always thank God for all the blessings he has given us.

Very well said, Jessica. I like how you explained all of these. You're right, just be yourself and don't compare yourself to anyone because you have no replika in this world. We're all different in every way. Just accept who you are and always remember that God created you in that way because He knows what is the best for you. Learn to love yourself and stop comparing yourself. Learn to gain positive thoughts in life. And learn also that every challenges is a blessing because you cannot learn without experiencing every mistakes. Know that you are not the only who's experiencing those problems. All of us experience different problems, if you don't notice yet. God's always there. Last year I experienced downfall, that time it's so hard to accept everything but then I pray and pray and pray, prayer really works. It made me feel relieved that time. I love God. Let me share my motto, "If things does not happen the way we want it to be, it means that it's not meant to be, everything has its own time." So don't ever think that if things you want doesn't happen now, it means that it will never happen. Just wait for the perfect time and everything will be okay. :)
