A Phrase for Life
by Princess De Juan
Grade X-Rizal

What I really want to receive more than a phone this Christmas is a simple phrase from my mom. A phrase that any mother can say to her child. In my 17 years of existence and of all the things I have achieved since I was a kinder , I have never ever heard my mom say she was proud of me. I'm doing everything I can to make her proud. I've won a lot of contests, took home bags of medals, and did my best to keep my grades high but she never said anything about my achievements. She doesn't get contented with what I've got because she always expects for more. She just notice my flaws and correct my mistakes in every achievement that I get. Hearing my mom say she is proud of me is all I ever wanted from her and it would be a great gift not just for this Christmas but for my whole life. I'd like to receive this kind of gift from her because it would motivate me to continue what I'm doing and knowing that I'm making my only parent proud makes me think that I have a worth in this world.
